LATEST WEST BROM INJURY NEWS AHEAD OF BRISTOL CLASH

West Brom are expected to welcome Daryl Dike back to the squad for their game against Bristol City, although there are doubts about Andy Carroll. Boss Steve Bruce endured a very difficult start to life in charge of Albion, but seven points from the last three games, including an excellent display as they beat leaders Fulham last time out, has lifted the spirits and kept the Baggies faint play-off hopes alive.

It’s about building on that against the Robins now, and reporter Joseph Masi revealed a mixed injury update after speaking to Bruce ahead of the trip to Ashton Gate. Daryl Dike expected to be on the bench. Sam Johnstone has been ill but is expected to make it. Andy Carroll a doubt with a minor knock.

Having the USA international back will be a major boost for Albion, as there had been huge expectation on the striker when he was brought to the club in January in what was a big-money deal. An injury suffered later that month means Dike has only played twice for his new club since signing.

This is great news for Albion and Dike, because he was seen as a major coup when he came in and his form with Barnsley last season proved he can be a top player at this level. Of course, you can’t expect him to hit the ground running straight away given how long he has been out, but it’s another good option for the manager. Albion will still feel a top six finish is possible, even if they do need to win most their games, so having Dike back is only going to help in the run-in.

West Brom manager Steve Bruce will be hoping that he can have all his important players in the squad fit until the end of the season in a bid to have a brilliant end to the current campaign.
