CARROLL WANTS BIG MATCH

West Ham assistant manager Neil McDonald has said that stock Andy Carroll will be relishing the prospect of facing his former teammates when Newcastle United visit West Ham during the weekend. Newcastle come into the match on the back of a 6-0 thrashing at the hands of Liverpool during last weekend.

One of the highlighted aspects of the defeat was the poor nature of defending from the Newcastle players, who were all over the place. There was no organisation in the defence, which was duly punished by Liverpool.

Andy Carroll has proved that he is second to none when it comes to being unstoppable in the air. He has punished several defences when the ball is put into the penalty box. He was recently responsible for Manchester United conceding two goals in the Premier league. McDonald has revealed that Carroll cannot wait for the match this weekend, as he is very confident of scoring. The former Newcastle striker may not have scored a lot of goals since his loan move to West Ham at the start of the season, but he has been instrumental to the way of playing under Sam Allardyce. He has managed to score just seven goals in 21 appearances for West Ham this season.

“He is a forward and wants to score goals so I imagine he will be licking his lips after their performance against Liverpool last week. He is bound to find it strange because this is the club where he grew up and came through the ranks. That won’t stop him trying to do his best for the team and he is fully committed to West Ham. He will be desperate to score and keep up his fine run of form,” said Carroll. There have also been calls for the 24-year-old to be included in the England squad once again.
