How Has It Gone All Wrong For Andy Carroll At Newcastle?

Newcastle United’s problems this season have created some more branches in the last few months, but one that has really affected them on the pitch is the inability of their attackers to find the back of the net (more often). The lack of goals from the club’s attackers is not a new thing, and it is in fact, the reason manager Steve Bruce gave the club the green light to complete the signing of veteran Premier League striker Andy Carroll.

The signing of Carroll by Newcastle already had shades of mistakes written all over it, given that the former Liverpool man appeared to have lost his scoring touch. But the little justification that surrounded the deal was that he had the experience and perhaps he still had some of those abilities left inside him.

Carroll Shares What He Thinks About His Time At Newcastle

Andy Carroll is not a happy man at Newcastle, and he is not hiding it at all. The striker has boldly admitted that he is enduring mental torture from both the fact that Newcastle are suffering a poor run of form, and that he is not getting enough game time at the club. He is currently in his second season at the club and only scored the first goal of his Newcastle career since returning from the defeat against Leicester City in January.

He has now opened up on his time at the club so far, citing that he is not happy that the club are in the position that they are in at the moment and that he is not being given the chance to try to help. Andy Carroll and Billi Mucklow rarely enjoy date nights together in the absence of their kids but have done so ahead of Bill’s birthday this coming weekend. Billi will be turning 32 but will have to stay indoors due to the UK restriction guideline being imposed as a result of the coronavirus.

The Gateshead born talented player agreed to remain with the Magpies for another year, according to the club. The 31-year old was expected to exit the club this summer but the club wanted him to remain for a bit.

He played in the last eight even as Manchester City beat Newcastle in the FA Cup. Despite starting only four league games this season, his four assists have been crucial and a sign that if he remains, he can do more. Coach Steve Bruce likes the work ethics and improving fitness of Carroll, so he wants him to continue.

Premier League side Newcastle United would have a squad boost when Project Restart finally kicks off. There are reports of Premier League clubs agreeing to restart training sessions this week as the lockdown rules are gradually eased. This will culminate in English football returning to track, like other select European leagues such as the German Bundesliga.

The clubs are also expected to have their squad extended as they race to complete the season. The players would have a short time to get back to full match fitness, some players would not be available due to health or personal reasons, hence the need for more squad additions during this period.
Newcastle are yet to return to training but latest reports on Monday claim the club would resume training before the weeks runs out. The Magpies have less than a month to get ready, based on the schedule to see off the season with no audience.
